I love obtaining new things, whether they be material things, new knowledge, learning new techniques, visiting new places, meeting new friends, or most importantly, new spiritual things. With new things come new opportunities.

Once saved, you become a new creature, and a subject of the Kingdom of God. Old things are passed away and behold, all things become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Your old way of life changes. The way you do things change. Most importantly…you change! You learn to think, act, and respond to life differently. This enables you to enjoy life to its fullest extent—and to fulfill your calling.
With this new way of life, you become one with God, have direct access to the throne, and become a joint heir with Jesus Christ. You also receive divine instruction and revelation, a new language, resurrection power, and much, much more.
We are instructed by the Word of God to put on the new man. (Colossians 3:10) What does put on mean? It means you must make a choice. We are the only creatures God has made that were given the ability to choose. Because we have been translated into His Kingdom, we must go about our daily lives learning how to live the Kingdom way. A new thing! Under this new rulership, our lives are now governed by kingdom methods that are not the same as the world’s methods.
Therefore, we must learn to live according to Christ’s example which would be a new thing to us. In this new thing, we must learn to live and walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) We are to walk the way He created us to be. We should no longer allow our past to dictate our emotions, actions, or futures. The past should be just that—the past.
We are on a journey to a destination. The destination is not the end-all, but the culmination of new things we encounter along the journey. Jesus did not give His life in order for us to continue in the same old ways, doing the same old things! He provided us with a new life and an abundance of new things. God gave us a second chance to renew His original intent for our lives. Jesus’ resurrection provided a newness in us that allows us to create and empower our lives. As we see in the Scriptures, the old ways only proved to be disastrous. We are now delivered from the law and should serve in the newness of spirit. (Romans 7:6)
Of all the new things that are created, remember that you were given a new spirit, and…
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27)
In His Service, Darlene E. Richard Evangelist and Kingdom Teacher
Darlene Richard has been a minister since 1996. She has taught Bible study for over twenty-seven years and has been active in the Church since the age of six. Darlene has an inept ability given to her by God to teach the gospel, and she is gifted with a voice to sing His praises. She believes that the Scriptures are not just information or stories given for the purposes of just storytelling, but that they are a source of life to those that receive them as such.
Evang. Darlene, What an excellent reminder of how we as believers are to walk as the new creatures that Christ has made us and to no longer allow our past to have leverage in our lives. Thank God I am being made new day by day. Great job!
I like this so much. Goes perfect with the New Season upon us with new beginnings.
Thank you.
This is a wonderful article and a great reminder that our yesterdays have no power over us.
Thank you Darlene for this beautiful post! With our strong faith in God, we are on our way towards our true calling in life.
Thank you, Evangelist Darlene, for reminding us that our past is just that-the past! We shouldn’t dwell there anymore but instead, we should embrace the new thing that God is doing!
