What comes to mind when you think of the word “new”?  When you are given something new, it means that it has never been worn or used by anyone else.  Let’s take for example, the first time you opened up a gift that you had been asking your parents to give you; and suddenly, they surprised you with that gift. What emotion set in?  What did you feel?  Most people would say there was a sense of excitement!  Why? Because it was something you had been expecting or wanting—and finally, it was released to you at the right appointed time!

It is the same way with our Heavenly Father, who desires to give us new things and great gifts for our lives. He wants to shower His people with…

new places in the Spirit…new health…new growth…new relationships…new favor…new opportunities…new wholeness…new miracles…new dreams…new careers…new favor…new LIFE!

He wants to restore what is torn and broken, and provide something delicately wrapped and intricately designed just for you! He wants to set you free from lack and depletion, and fill your barns with overflow and abundance in every aspect of your life.

To have a mindset of receiving new things from the Lord, you must also position yourself to be in a place of expectation. Expectation means you are believing, even though your blessing has not manifested into full fruition. When we are in expectation, we also have to wait for His timing to birth the promises of God in our lives. How do we get into position to expect from God? We recount the times where He has shown His power and answered our prayers over and over again.

When we are in a state of expectation, we are reflecting, recalling, and rehearsing what He has already done!  That alone should propel us enough to know that if He did it once, He will surely do it again!

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”  James 1:17 (NIV)

So keep hoping, believing, and standing on the promises of God, knowing that you can look forward with great expectation as multiple grains of new harvest come to flourish and nourish your life.
