Habakkuk 2:1-3 (KJV) “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
With this message, I am speaking to those who sense a special call of God upon their lives, and a desire to fulfill that call. This includes any who are born-again and serious about the Lord, whether they are in what man calls “full-time ministry” or not. The vision God gives to each person is different and personal. It is a specific word, plan, or goal that God has spoken to your heart. His vision for each one of us is different; it’s personal and cannot be duplicated by someone else.
To begin the journey to fulfill your vision, you must first harness your vision. This means understanding what God’s will is for your life – what He has called you to do – and then building and preparing your life in a fashion that enables you to capture your vision and fulfill it. You must also believe the vision is trustworthier than what you can see with the naked eye.
You must have a strong spiritual life and great faith in your heart. You must trust God to direct your path. It is the steps of a good man that the Lord can order, not the man standing still. (Psalms 37:23 – KJV) The vision God gives you calls you OUT of your own land, your own plan, your own destiny, and INTO the plan and destiny of God! In obedience to the word spoken, God will continue to appear to you, confirming and reconfirming the vision. Obedience is the manifestation of faith in the Word of the Lord; faith in the vision God has given. Obedience is faith…and faith unlocks the power of God’s Word. You must look out from where you are now. Expand your vision. What you see is usually too small. Unbelief will cause you to stagger and stumble, and you will not run with the vision God has given you. You must set in motion the word God has given you, as soon as you begin to believe it.

Never underestimate the feasibility of your God-given vision on the basis of your own natural strength or ability. Do not worry about natural circumstances or situations. Believing God will perform what He has spoken is key. Without a vision, there can be no direction; without direction, there can be no plan; without a plan, there is no effective action; and without effective action, there is no accomplishment. The vision not mixed with faith is unprofitable; it does not produce. (James 2:17-26 – KJV)
You must spend the initial preparation time to fulfill your vision. The greater the vision God has given, the more time is necessary to strengthen yourself. Power is generated when we speak the vision. Believing comes before speaking. Declare your vision to yourself. Write it down and read it out loud. Declare your mission to Satan. He will attempt to stop you from fulfilling your mission. You must be courageous and let him know who you are by operating in your kingdom authority, just as Jesus did while being tested in the wilderness. You may not always want to tell people about your vision. Like Joseph’s brothers, they may not receive you. As you believe and yield to the plan and call of God for your life, His power will be generated through you for a performance of ALL that He has spoken to your heart.
When God has spoken a word to you and given you a vision and a plan for your life, He will come again looking for a return on His investment. Heaven is God’s domain, but Earth is man’s place to dream, believe God’s words, obey, work, and harness his visions. The keys to clarity are preparation, obedience, timing, and persistence. Never stop! Know your vision; be patient, strong, and faithful. Don’t come to your assignment unprepared. Take time to build a strong spiritual life. We need not labor in the flesh. God will enable us to perform by His Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6 – KJV)
When you feel that you have heard a word from the Lord, there will be continual temptation and oftentimes resistance. That temptation is to labor in the flesh and in your own wisdom and strength rather than letting God work the supernatural in the right season. The resistance is the devil attempting to destroy your good works. God’s role, in relationship with you and your specific calling, is to supply the plan and then – contingent upon your training, obedience, and cooperation – supply all the internal and external resources for you to accomplish that calling. Your part is to hear the vision, say yes to the vision, prepare to fulfill the vision, and persist until you can say, “I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE!”
Here are four key things to remember:
- Never say, “I am a child”. – You may sense an inability to achieve what God has said. This may be an honest, heartfelt evaluation of yourself as a person. This is a very basic human response. You must operate in faith, not in fear. You must esteem the words that God has spoken to you above your own judgment. God does not make mistakes. It is according to His purpose, not our works. It is the calling and choosing of God and not your personal worthiness that is the deciding factor in your vision and calling.
- Be willing to leave where you are. – It is very human to stay where you are as opposed to not knowing where you are going. Make God’s calling your priority. Be ready to move.
- Strive for excellence. – Pay attention to your development and to the gifts and talents God has given you.
- Persist, Persist, Persist. – The revelation of your vision and calling will significantly proceed your entering into and fulfilling that calling.
Your vision is a piece of eternity. It is called by eternity to be delivered at a certain time and space during your lifetime. God has already measured out the grace for your vision. You must be committed. Commitment breeds opportunity. While working on your vision, don’t despise the little things. Learn to appreciate the seed and not the bouquet.

This was very inspiring as we look ahead towards 2020! Good job Darlene.
Thank you so much, Evangelist Darlene, for this timely message. Indeed obedience, striving for excellence, persistence, and commitment are all necessary for us to walk fully into the vision God has given us!
Thank you, Darlene! This is empowering. The line, “You must also believe the vision is trustworthier than what you can see with the naked eye.” allows us to simply trust God –regardless of the situation that we’re in–in fulfilling our calling.
Thank you for the wealth presented on this platform table. It was extremely rich in content and depth. I received my portion.

Hi Evangelist Darlene,
Wow! All I can say is powerful, powerful, and powerful. Your blog post spoke to my heart on so many levels. I really love the part about confirming and re-confirming and writing out the vision. There is something about visually seeing our vision that helps to propel us as we speak it and as God begins to help us live it out! Bless you for this anointed word!
Hi Evangelist Darlene,
I apologize if my reply is showing up twice, but I could not see my last reply to you! I am still reflecting, but your post still has me reflecting on the path God has for us and His vision.
Blessings!
Thank you for your inspired words as we wind down this year and look forward to a new year starting! My favorite quote from this is “Your vision is a piece of eternity…and God has already measured out the grace for your vision.”
How comforting is that, to know that He has seen what is to come, and the grace that is needed has already been provided!
My, my, my. I feel like I just left a seminar! This was absolutely AWESOME. I will refer to this article again and again, it is so very insightful. Bless you my sister for releasing this phenomenal teaching.
“The greater the vision God has given, the more time is necessary to strengthen yourself.” This sentence spoke volumes to me because sometimes we get so excited about what we receive from God, we just run out without putting in any initial work which often times backfires on us. We must spend time strengthening ourselves before we take on the task. Thank you so much for this article and the strength and wisdom that you released through your writing.
